Tax liability moving back to UK from Asia

Postby Arfur Sixpence on Thu Mar 02, 2006 5:22 am

I have been abroad for 10 yrs and saved funds in an offshore account. I'll soon be moving back to the UK and would like to know :
1) Can I leave my ac offshore and send funds to the UK as required (eg for deposit on a house)
2) I am also buying a property in the UK for investment purposes. Should I set up a company incorporated abroad and send the income to the offshore account ?

You need proper professional advice.

Timing is important as you will be taxed in the UK on worldwide income and gains.

You probably need to close your accounts before you return otherwise the interest will taxable.
