Tax on money brought into UK when arriving first time in UK

Postby Bjay on Mon Nov 28, 2011 10:06 am

Hi,

I came to the UK to work in UK on a work permit in Sep 2006 along with my family for the first time.

I was not a UK resident before that time.

We brought our earnings/savings in the form of bank drafts and deposited them in the bank here after opening the account for my salary.

Will this money which was earned outside UK be taxable in UK.

Can Somebody help?

Regards
Bjay

Sep 2006 is 5 years ago; when did you credit the money in the UK ?

I had deposited the drafts in first week of October 2006 after immediately after opening the bank account.

No income tax should arise assuming that all the monies were earned/received prior to arriving in the UK.
