Tax relief for Training paid for personally

Evening all,

I understand that i can get tax relief for paying for training myself.

I've looked online and it's a bit of a mine field, I've spent just over £6k in the last 3 years on training, Being able to get some of that back will be great.

I appreciate all the advise you can give me

What do you do?
Was it training to refresh your skills or acquire new ones?
What (if any) qualifications did the training lead to?
How essential was the training to your occupation?
