taxationweb issues

I've only been able to connect to TW on an irregular basis due to connection timing out etc, I verified here it wasn't just me http://www.downforeveryoneorjustme.com/ and it confirmed site has been down a fair bit.

Just curious as to whether it was for maintenance or spam attack DDoS or something?

I hadn't noticed anything was wrong. TaxationWeb is quite a quick site normally.
A.......Web however takes forever to load and I sometimes lose the will to live.

The issue was technical and the underlying cause was a combination of increased content and an DoS attack.

I assumed ddos from the irreguar downtimes and lag when it was intermittently up. Did you trace it to anywhere?

No, we couldn't trace it. The problem is that finance is a hot issue so we regularly get spammed by Indian/Russian/Chineese/etc. companies, hence the stats show lots of different "dodgy" IPs. No doubt you've seen the efforts we've put into removing spam from the forum: well now imagine all the attacks you don't see!
