tax relief on tools?

Postby Laurieg » Mon Feb 27, 2017 4:37 pm

I am about to start a new job as a permanent engineer. Like many positions in my trade I am required to has my own tool kit, which I have purchased. This requirement is usually for contract personnel but occasionly some companies do ask permanent staff to supply their own basic kit, only supplying specialist tools. I have spent in the region of £600 so far. Can I claim some relief on this expenditure. Again, I am a permanent staff NOT contract.

Thanks for any advice
