UK Private Pensions held by New Zealand new-resident - QFPA or FIF?

Hi,
Just arrived in NZ and discovered they have something called QFPA (your overseas private pension is either a QFPA or a FIF). I am hoping my private pension and my contracted-out SERPS contribution, UK pensions are QFPAs but the qualifying terms are ambigious - particularly when they say (in IR257) to qualify as a QFPA your private pension must comply with the following:-

"..There are restrictions on assigning future benefits (except for matrimonial transfers) AND
There are restrictions on the investment being surrendered, charged or borrowed against..."

They don't say what sort of restrictions, I assume most UK pensions are restricted as above and I have not paid into them for ages, so other requirements are ok.

Any UK expats in NZ solved this mystery?

Cheers
