UK VAT to EU customer

Postby KPrism » Thu Apr 06, 2017 2:31 pm

Hi,

I hope I can get some clarification on a situation we have.

We are a UK VAT registered company. A customer in France wishes to purchase goods from us but delivery will be in the UK. The customer is registered for VAT in France.

As the goods are not going to leave the UK, do we need to apply 20% VAT to the goods?

Many Thanks

The answer to your question is yes, you will need to treat the supply as domestic and charge standard VAT if that is what you would do
if your customer were UK registered.
In order to zero rate supplies to other EU member states the following should happen:
1. Supply is made to a EU VAT registered customer.
2. You have evidence that goods left member state where the supply is made
3. Supplier must obtain Vat registration number of the customer, verify it and use it in the sales invoice
