US person in UK with Limited company

Hello,

Hopefully some one can point me in the right direction.......

In August I moved to the UK from the US. I am a US citizen. I set up a simple UK limited company. I am the director paying a salary and dividends. Since I recieve a salary I pay UK national insurance. I now plan to return to the US in March of 2012. I applied for the ceritificate of coverage to avoid paying US social security. I also had my form 8832 (foreign eligible entity with single owner to be disregard as a separate entity) approved.

Here is my question....the tax year for my limited company is August 2012. Between August and December 2011 I had UK earnings but paid very little in taxes (some social security). When it comes to doing my US taxes my UK earnings will go on Schedule C but I paid no UK taxes yet. I will pay them in August 2012. How do I show this on my US taxes? Can I estimate my UK tax liability on my US taxes?

Thanks in advance.

Hi

I think your getting confused with UK corporate and personal taxes in relation to including them in your US return. You state that you have a UK salary but pay little tax on it but any tax due is being paid in august 2011 which is coterminus with your comoany year end.
If your paying tax on your UK salary this should be paid monthly or quarterly under PAYE.

Best way to complete the US return is to pro rata your UK salary together with the UK tax and estimate the half year in advance.

Regards
