I have this from a client who is involved in the audiovisual industry

Can you advise us on buying a VW caravelle for the business there must be a way we can get this as a commercial vehicle for our business use, please let us know if it is possible. We want to be able to claim the VAT back on it.

Anyone know? Hep! Tom

I thought the Caravelle had windows. If so, no VAT reclaim unless it seats more than twelve people.

With a pinch of salt take what I say, but don't exceed your RDA

I claimed vat few years ago, but this was in coach (passenger transport) industry. The vehicles were used in contract hire, there was no private use at all. We have had couple of vat compliance visit. No problem.

We even claimed vat on the car again they were used 100% for business purpose (to ferry the drivers from head office to their driving duty point and back), we have had no problem.

As long as it is 100% business and you can prove that then I do not see a problem claiming the vat.

For car, and caravelle HMRC may expect you to keep a log of miles! If you were to claim the vat I would keep log of all the miles to prove there is no private use.

It is possible to recover the VAT, but subject to VERY STRICT rules.

What will car be used for
Do you adore to transfer your artistic and inventive qualities to renovate a part type? Perhaps your friends who tour your sanctuary head remarks about want they could levy you to change their premises.
