Which to study

Which to study

Postby wood1e on Tue Dec 08, 2009 10:23 am

Hi,

I am looking at getting a tax examination under my belt, and I have been looking at ATT. But with further investigation I have also discovered FTA?

What is the main difference between the two organisation? Is there a snob value or is there an actually value difference?

If I was to study ATT or FTA can anyone provide the core books I should be looking at reading? As I will probably study independantly.

Forgot those generalist and boring direct tax focused exams and do the AIIT.

I don't know what FTA is.

As to ATT, it is a second division tax qualification. If you were up to it, clearly you would go for CTA. However, many people aren't up to passing CTA and, for them, ATT may be a more achievable tax qualification.

If you're in no rush do the ATT first as it will make the CTA easier.

Perhaps an exam in utilising this forum effectively "Free Tax Advice"? ;)
