Hey all!
I'm completely new to taxes, so reading up on the HMRC website has been confounding me. I thought I'd come here for some advice, hope you can help me out.
I began working part-time as an adult webcam performer in October 2011, testing the water to see if this was the right job for me.
To this day I have thus far made around £950 and wish to persue this as my job.
I wish to declare myself as self-employed (as I believe this is what webcam performers go under) and need help knowing which form I must fill out for this. Is it the form: "Registering for Self Assessment and National Insurance contributions if you are a self-employed sole trader"? I just want to be absolutely sure I am filling out the right form here.
Also - I was confronted with the lovely message of:
"Self Assessment.
Do it online by 31 January
Even if you owe nothing
Miss the deadline and you’ll get a £100 penalty"
on the front page on the HMRC website and wondered if this penalty would affect me as somebody who began working in Oct '10 rather than the April '10 - April '11 tax year (if I am correct)?
I am terrified of already facing any tax fines / penalties of any kind with my first job.
Any help on this matter would be dearly appreciated.
