YTD NIC figures

YTD NIC figures

Postby Loulyd on Thu Mar 10, 2011 11:54 am

Hi there,

I wonder if anyone could advise me on whether it's possible to calculate NIC Ers and Student Loan deductions if you only know the gross pay to date.

Unfortunately I took over processing the payroll for my new employer in September and I have no figures for YTD NIC Ers or Student Loans for any of the employees although I was given YTD tax and NI Ees figures. The people that I took over from have fallen out with my boss and are refusing to give me the information. They say that they sent monthly reports to my boss and won't provide the information again without charging for the time to recover it - my boss says that he hasn't got the monthly reports. I'm trapped between a rock and a hard place! :?

I've got a feeling that I can't work out NIC or Student Loan as it's worked out month by month rather than YTD. I think I have the YTD Ees figure though so maybe I could use that to calculate the Ers figure?

Any help would be gratefully received!

Thanks,
Lou

Hi,
If I were you I will run a P14 report from yr payroll system in which you can see all upper and lower earnings for NI purposes. you also can see student loan also.

To get it right, for non-directors you need to know the amount of NICable pay in each pay period. How many employees? If only a handful and relatively friendly, could you ask for payslip info without appearing totally inefficient?

Thanks for the replies - it is a bit of a nightmare as there are 20 employees scattered across 3 locations and I can't imagine for a minute that they will all have all their payslips. Oh dear!

I think my boss is going to have to just accept that he'll have to pay to get the NI details - I think I'll tell him just before I leave tonight!
