John Whiting has been recognised for his contribution to public service in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List.  He has been awarded an OBE.

The citation reads: “David John Whiting, Chartered Tax Adviser, for public service.”

John is a past President of The Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIOT), a past Chairman of its Technical Committee and currently Chairman of the Institute’s Management of Taxes Sub-Committee.

Nick Goulding, CIOT President, says: “On behalf of the CIOT, I would like to extend our congratulations to John on this well deserved acknowledgement.  This honour recognises the work he has done to raise the profile and standing of the tax profession and, especially, further the understanding of the UK tax system.”

John Whiting is one of the CIOT’s key spokespeople.

Nick Goulding adds: “John can take a complex tax issue and make it accessible to journalists, politicians and the public.”

John is also a member of the CIOT’s Low Incomes Tax Reform Group and is a partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers.
