HMRC SA109 Residence form - part UK, part Spanish resident

Postby Nini » Sun Jul 01, 2018 10:19 am

Help please! I've been through the SA109 notes but am still stressed by filling in this form.

I've been a UK resident up until January 2018. So for my 2017-18 UK Tax Return, I need to complete SA109 - the first 9 months of the UK Tax year would see me as UK Resident and the remaining 3 months as Spanish (as I took up Spanish residency in January). I have not worked either in the UK or Spain during that time, have had some UK bank interest but no capital gains. I was wondering if there's a completed form example for a similar situation. I'm particularly stuck at questions:

1. If you were not resident in the UK for 2017-18, put 'X'.
3. If your circumstances meet the criteria for split year treatment for 2017-18, put 'X'.

Thanks in advance.

This is why accountants are utilised to take away the stress !

You will have to lookup cases 1-3 under split year

I assume you have specialised software to complete the SA109 ?
