Life insurance in trust

Postby vik2001 » Mon Aug 12, 2024 10:00 am

I want to get life insurance in trust to help family pay iht on death.
I want to avoid any 10 year periodic charges . Life insurance to be for 200k and will go to my brother, and if he's not alive than to his kids.

Any advice on which life insurance is best for above?

Term assurance is generally considered to have negligible value pre-death provided the life in question (ie yours) is in reasonable health at the time.

In any case, you wouldn't get a periodic charge on £200k, as it's below the nil rate band, so whole of life insurance should still not incur a charge.

Thanks.
Does it also matter if any pet gifts were made in the previous 7 years before, but not into trust? Would that effect periodic charges in anyway?
