Mesher Order - Informing HMRC

Postby caffe » Sun Feb 17, 2019 5:08 pm

Hello hoping this is a quick question.
By court order the family home of a divorcing couple has been placed into trust until the youngest child (now 15) reaches the age of 18.
The ex wife will remain in the property whilst her ex husband will move out.
Does the ex-husband need to inform the HMRC of the the court order and make a claim to ensure that full private residence relief will apply or is this something that is dealt with when the youngest child reaches 18?
Thanks
Caffe

No need to inform HMRC while it is occupied by the family (ie no rental payments).

PPR election only necessary if/when the property is sold.
