moving to France but still working in UK

Postby andylu56 » Mon Jan 15, 2018 3:52 pm

Hello
I'm moving to France this year with my partner and 5 year old daughter. We already own a house in France that we have used for our family holidays. My partner and I intend to continue our UK civil service careers and will commute back to the UK and undertake our current roles.
I understand that we will continue to pay tax and National Insurance in the UK but we are concerned that working in this way may not entitle us to access to French Welfare. It will be really useful to know if there are steps I can take to ensure access to French Welfare
Thank You

Hi Andy, you would need to spend approximately 25% of your time working in France as you would then be considered a multi-state worker and can make contributions into the French social security system as opposed to the UK.
