Personal allowance

Postby Yentrouc » Fri Dec 21, 2018 11:40 pm

I'm returning to work after maternity leave taken from Feb 2018. I resigned the job i was on maternity leave from and will begin a higher paying post in January 2019. For the tax year 18/19, my recorded earnings will be from Jan - April only. Will my paychecks be tax free, as my earnings will be less than the personal allowance for the year? My tax code at recent job was 1180L (standard). Thanks in advance!

The whole of your PA from 4/18 to 4/19 will be available to you so the first £11,800 will be tax free. (but in increments from 1/19 of £983 pm. starting at £8849)
