CGT on BTL propertythat was main home for about 3 yrs

Postby mbugsy18 » Mon Sep 11, 2017 8:11 am

Hi,
I have recently retired and would like to sell a property that has been rented out since 1991. I had lived in it as my main home when it was first purchased but rented it when I moved jobs and lived with my parents. I would like to know how to calculate the CGT but I cant remember how much the purchase price was all that time ago.
Any help gratefully received in how to do this and any reliefs I can claim.

Did you move away because of employment?

Were you unable to return to the property because of employment?

'Potential' for full PPR relief, but depends on the facts. Strongly suggest you speak with a specialist.

Hi,
Yes I moved away for employment purposes and unable to return because of that and being the main career for my parents. It has been let ever since with few void periods.
