Hi all. My dad is thinking about giving me some money over 5 K. Does that affect my child B...and CT credit ? Help :?: :?:

It doesn't affect child benefit as that is based purely on income (the £5k is not income);

It looks like child tax credits are also fine as they are also based on actual income - with no limits on how much capital you can have (e.g. how much you have in your bank account). However, you need to check this as I am no expert. Also, beware that capital is taken into account if/when tax credits are replaced by Universal Credit.
