Hypothetical tax is used to calculate your net pay when your employer has agreed to pay you a set amount after all deductions (ie you will have no tax to pay on the the amount you recieve). It is not a tax. It is simply part of your employer's calculation of the amount they will pay you. The calculation of your pay will be explained in your contract.

You and your employer can negotiate as to whether the stay at home hypothetical tax is correct. A good accountant who specialises in tax equalization could assist you in those negotiations should you wish.
