Gift money taxable?

Postby westcat » Mon Jan 15, 2018 1:21 pm

Hi,

I'm sure there are hundreds of topics on this same question but to save time I thought I'd get straight to the point.

I'm a British citizen living in Hong Kong (with HK bank account) and a relative o mine transferred the equivalant of 20,000 pounds (in HKD) via HK bank account...

I'm planning to transfer the 20,000 pounds to my UK bank account at some point but will I get taxed in the UK for this?

Thanks!

There is no UK tax payable on gifts.
