Closing a Partnership (non-limited)

Postby Corazones » Mon Feb 19, 2018 6:31 pm

My wife and I have both just registered for self-assessment. We want to do two things - (a) remove our (useless) agent from the records, and (b) Close a partnership between us which has made a small loss for the past two years. With the partnership, one of us is registered to sign on behalf. Do we close the partnership through the self-assessment access of that person, or does it have to have its own self-assessment identity?
Many thanks for any help you can offer.

The p/ship should have it's own registration at HMRC. Use that one for the return.
With a pinch of salt take what I say, but don't exceed your RDA

Thanks, Pawncob, I have a copy of the last return (by the former Agent) and I will look for it there.

Is it a simple procedure to tell them we will not use the agent again?

To get rid of the old useless agent get your new agent to register online as your new agent or write direct to HMRCadvising them that the agent no longer acts for you
regards and hope this helps

Thanks for your advice. As we will be completing our own online returns in future, we will notify the change ourselves.
