tax on profit from sold shares

Postby Anager » Thu Mar 29, 2018 7:01 pm

Hello,
My husband owns 25% of a company. He is going to sell his shares and get e.g. £150k
As far as I know he has to pay tax on the profit which in his case is going to be the whole amount.
Is there anything we can do to pay less tax, or even avoid paying tax (legally of course)
Thank you

entrepreneurs relief?

https://www.gov.uk/entrepreneurs-relief

give you half the shares before selling and save from your annual exemption (£2,000 ish) and any basic rate you have left (max £3k ish).
