NRB not used up with transfers to wife

Postby Umar » Wed Jun 20, 2018 5:48 pm

Hi

If part of the estate goes to the wife, is it correct that this does not use up the NRB?

e.g. husband has assets of £400k. £300k go to wife, £100k to children.
No IHT to pay as the £300k to wife does not us up the NRB.

Correct. Transfers to spouse are exempt
