Re: new eu vat directive - web design services

Hello, Just as a small point, you may want to avoid telling your customer that they will have to pay their local tax authorities. If the supply is received for business purposes and they are not VAT registered in their own member state then the value of the supply is incorporated into their taxable ...

Re: VAT Flat Rate Sheme & Supplying service to EU

Hello,

No, you do not include it in box 8 of the VAT return as it is not the sale of goods.

It is included in box 6 of your VAT return, but is not included in your FRS calculation.

Re: Flat Rate Scheme

Hello, If you look online at http://www.hmrc.gov.uk there is detailed Flat Rate Scheme guidance. Search for FRS3300 which deals specifically with retrospective FRS registration, and that will give you an idea of what HMRC will allow. I assume that you're client received a belated notification penalt...

Re: Change of VAT rate - supplementary charge

Hello,

I'd say its fairly straight forward from the anti-forestalling guide, and as the invoice is raised in December 2009, but the work wholly takes place in 2010, then I'd say that VAT at 17.5% would be applicable...

Re: Reclaiming VAT - accommodation?

Hello, Section 12.1.3 of the VAT guide states that if you or your employees are away from your normal place of business then you can treat VAT incurred on hotel and similar accommodation as input tax. Providing it was incurred within 6 months of your effective date of VAT registration, then yes, you...

Re: Import VAT

Hello, It all depends on what the commercial invoice states at the import declaration. If the goods are declared below the low value consignment, then no VAT/Duty would be charged at import, thus no charges to be paid. Ultimately, it is the importers obligation to ensure the correct prices are outli...

Re: "this is not a VAT invoice" - why?

Hello,

This is because a taxable person (i.e. Tesco) is only required by law to provide a VAT invoice to another taxable person. They're under no requirement to do so unless you state you are a taxable person.

Re: VAT on trading within bonded warehouse

Hello, I've recently read a little more into this, and would actually like to retract what I originally stated. It has always been my opinion that if the supply is "outside the scope of VAT" and this is purely the type of supply, then the person would not have a right to register in the UK. "Outside...

Re: VAT dilemma!!

Hello, In relation to the VAT aspect, you don't mention whether the British company is VAT registered or not? Consultancy, is liable where the customer belongs to. So, despite the work being undertaken in the Ukraine, ultimately, if the customer is British then the place of supply is the UK (see sec...

Re: VESTED BUILDING RIGHTS???

Hello,

So the basis of the transaction is that Person A (Landowner) gives Person B (Property Developer) some land to build on, in return for Person B giving Person A some of the apartments or flats once the property has been built on that land?

Cheers
Sean
