MTD applies for turnover over £85k businesses. This requirement do not apply to VAT registered businesses with taxable turnover below the VAT threshold (eg, those that have registered voluntarily).


If HMRC have contacted you, please respond with all the facts and dont ignore the letter.

worth looking at this case - where HMRC was required to refund to the creditor and not the company in liquidation. The facts are different though to yours.

I agree with the above. However zero-rating can only apply to the construction of a new dwelling where the site has been completely cleared to ground level (although cellars, basements and the slab may be retained). If that is the case, the whole of a destroyed property is zero-rated for VAT purpose...

Sorry all flood damage repair and flood defence build work is subject to full rate VAT. The VAT exemptions that apply for new build properties and home insulation upgrade work do not apply.
