Undeclared foreign dividend

Hi, I am a very small shareholder in an foreign company that does not operate in the UK. I recently discovered that they for the first time in ages paid a dividend to shareholders. They did not tell me, just deposited it into an old account of mine which i never check and I only saw this by chance. ...

Re: Tax liability on Rent from agreement date or transfer date?

Thanks, and yes, only my son filed and declared tax from those dates. And there was no CGT due because the value had dropped since i bought it (due to overpaying before the financial crash coupled with a seriously deteriorating leasehold).

Thanks for this - I will try again with HMRC..

Tax liability on Rent from agreement date or transfer date?

Hi, About 5 years ago (2014) I gave my son my old UK buy-to-let property. I don't live in the UK, which made the conveyance tricky as our conveyancer said he could not transfer it unless and until i came to the UK to do it. Therefore, my son and I agreed (and had notorised) an agreement that basical...

Re: UK Tax liability - Indian NRO

I should specify that you have to pay full tax on NRE accounts as they are repatriable (and untaxed)

Re: UK Tax liability - Indian NRO

Hi Pushp - what were the answers in the end?

I declare mine on SA under non-repatriable income in foreign pages, for which I don't get taxed unless and until I am able to repatriate it. What did you find?

CRS - exchange of bank info or tax affairs?

HI all, I had a quick question about the CRS stuff from those in the know. I am a UK taxpayer with money and assets recently invested in India. I pay tax on my Indian income to the UK authorities (where repatriable) and to Indian authorities where not repatriable. My questions are: a) under CRS, do ...

Investigation if submitting SA self assessment early

Hi, I fill in an SA every year and often have it ready by August or earlier! I force myself to wait until after October to file it as a friend once told me that if you file really early then they are more likely to investigate your taxes on account of having more available time! Is that true? Or was...

PET status of overseas gifts given before becoming UK resident

Hello all, Over the last three financial years I have given my son over 250,000 pounds total (lucky him). I am currently non-resident & non-domicile. Anyway, i am thinking of moving back to the UK next year (2018-2019 FY) to be closer to my grandchildren in my old age. HMRC say that I would be consi...

A cash gift from overseas that is already in Sterling currency i.e not in foreign currency

Hello all, I am a non UK resident living overseas. I am looking to gift my son £150,000 from my Sterling account in Amsterdam (all taxes paid). My son is a UK resident paying taxes there. Now I understand that a cash gift from a non-resident/domicile will not usually attract IHT if I died in the 7 y...
