Re: PPR and Lettings Relief - do either of me or my spouse qualify?

Thank you for the reply pawncob. I was concerned that changing the property into joint names (with the intent that it would be let) would disqualify us (or at least my wife) from PPR Relief. Is it the fact that we lived together in the property (owned in joint names) for 12 days before moving out th...

PPR and Lettings Relief - do either of me or my spouse qualify?

Hello again everyone, again another question from me which is similar to other questions that have been asked but I cannot find anything recent that matches my circumstances, so please bear with me. Background: - I bought a property in 2012. My partner and I lived in it for 3.5 years. During that ti...

Re: How is IHT and transfer of Nil Rate Band calculated when Spouse inherits only part of the Estate?

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Anybody have a reference which confirms this is how the calculation is done?

There is no home is the estate so RNRB does not apply in this case.

How is IHT and transfer of Nil Rate Band calculated when Spouse inherits only part of the Estate?

Hi there, I'm sure this question has been asked before but despite using the Advanced Search, I was unable to find a similar topic, so please bear with me if that is the case. It's hopefully a fairly straightforward question. If the deceased (who has a single unused Nil Rate Band of £325k) has a wil...

Re: MODIFY Current Beneficial Interest when Remortgaging BTL (Married Tenants in Common)?

Hi maths, thanks for taking the time to reply. No CGT charge; see below. SDLT is in principle payable including the 3% additional charge. As I suspected. If the size of the transfer is less than £125k (which it will be) then it looks like we still have to pay 3% because we are both names on 2 proper...

MODIFY Current Beneficial Interest when Remortgaging BTL (Married Tenants in Common)?

Hi there, sorry I know this is similar (but not the same) as other questions in the most recent pages of the board, so thanks for your patience in dealing with the all-too-familiar sounding question! - My wife and I own one BTL property (Tenants in Common) with a mortgage, circa 235k. I owned it as ...

Re: Electronic Gold Bullion - Losses Allowable for CGT?

Hi, thanks for the reply. So (assuming I sell), the loss can ONLY be applied to the 2015/2016 year not a future or past year? Forgive the next stupid question, but what kind of tax (eg: PAYE, other?) could this loss be offset against? An example might be an easy way to explain possibly!? I would not...

Electronic Gold Bullion - Losses Allowable for CGT?

Hello there, I'm new to the site but a quick search suggests that there has not been a definitive answer given to this before, so please could someone help a guy who is NOT very clued up about tax?? I liquidated my Ltd Company (just me as an employee) in the 2012/2013 tax year and paid about £3800 C...
