Is conversion of holding of one share class to another class with same Fund manager a taxable event for CGT purposes ?

I wish to transfer a Non ISA fund holding with Hargreaves Lansdown to another platform where there are lower charges. However the new provider is not able to hold the particular share class of the Fund. I imagine that this is because H/Lansdown give a special discount on the Fund charges in the part...

Capital Gains/loss calculations on Marks and Spencer shares

Hi Can anyone give me some guidance , please, about working out a capital gain (or loss) on Marks and Spencer shares about half of which were owned pre 31/3/82. There has been a 1:1 scrip issue in 1984 and further dividends taken as scrip since that time. On the Marks and Spencer website a value is ...

However perhaps to be on the safe side it is better to formally report the sale. My hope of avoidi...

Re: capital gains tax- indexation allowance

Thanks for the reply. However I believe that as the property was purchased before 1998 the indexation allowance was only lost in respect of a disposal after April 2008. As I gifted my share to my wife before April 2008 I think that had the effect of "locking in" the indexation (and therefore increas...
