Losses on Mini-Bond / Loan Note Loans or Investments Eligible for Tax Loss Relief?

I've looked far and wide but can't find any specific information on the following: if you lend money via a mini-bond or loan note (typically into a smaller UK company) and they don't give you your money back (such as the well-known London Capital & Finance scenario and, more recently, Basset & Gold)...

Best comprehensive online personal tax calculators?

I know one can use HMRC's online calculator to try to work out your tax. Are there any other personal tax calculators that are accurate for people with income from multiple sources such as dividends, interest etc.?

Which tax band applies if separate dividend and interest earnings?

Apologies as I'm sure this a basic question for those in the know. I earn part of my income in the form of UK dividend earnings and the other part in the form of interest on UK Peer-to-Peer (P2P) loans and mini-bond/loan notes I make. Are dividend earnings and interest/P2P earnings calculated comple...

Accounting / Tax / Finance Placement Opportunity for University Student?

Apologies if this is not a suitable post, but I tried to post in the most relevant section of the forums. My daughter is in her second year at university doing accounting and finance and really needs a placement for her third year. She has applied to many companies but unfortunately there are 100’s ...

Re: EIS relief claim for the previous tax year without EIS3 form?

Just to confirm, the investment company I've used have emphasised it is perfectly normal and acceptable to go ahead with my tax relief claim even without the EIS3 form having been issued, as the investment has been EIS approved by HMRC.

EIS relief claim for the previous tax year without EIS3 form?

I've invested in a EIS-eligible scheme (EIS fully granted by HMRC) in November 2019. I've been told (by the large, reputable investment firm) it will take a few months for me to get my EIS3 form and that's common for such investments. However, I wish to claim my EIS tax relief for the previous tax y...

Enterprise Investment Scheme (EIS) - where to find vetted, superior companies to invest into?

There are countless companies that are Enterprise Investment Scheme (EIS) eligible, but obviously these are very high risk ventures. Are there any brokerages, introducers or other sources of EIS-eligible companies where they have diligently vetted companies, so that I'm more likely to invest in ones...

Entrepreneurs' Relief on selling company running buy to let rental properties?

As far as I'm aware, Entrepreneurs' Relief to reduce CGT doesn't apply to a run-of-the-mill limited company that buys and rents out buy to let properties (not holiday lets etc.) without significant development work. We haven't developed the properties other than relatively minor works like new lamin...

EIS scheme tax relief - does it also apply to dividend taxes?

The Enterprise Investment Scheme (EIS) states that tax relief of 30% can be claimed on investments, up to £1,000,000 in one tax year, giving a maximum tax reduction in any one year of £300,000, provided you have sufficient Income Tax liability to cover it. Does this income tax relief also apply to d...
