Re: Dividend tax for non-resident

Thanks Loza. I am still being asked to submit an IT return and the only income to declare thus far is bank account savings interest where income tax is deducted at source. This is then refunded to me after the return has been processed as it's normally only approx £300 which is well below the person...

Dividend tax for non-resident

Hi, I have been non-resident for several years but am operating through a UK limited company as my clients are UK based. I am confident of my non-resident status having no real ties (property, family etc) with the UK and only spend 20-30 days in the UK per year. Could someone please confirm how the ...

Using my personal FX trading account

Hi All, My UK limited company has a European based vendor and I need to pay them EUR each month. I (as an individual) already have an FX account that allows me to buy foreign currency in exchange for GBP. Rather than setting up another account in the name of my company, could I simply buy EUR using ...

Need to register my limited as a UK employer?

Hi All, I have a UK limited company and will be living and working in the Netherlands on an assignment for at least one year. I am a UK national but not UK tax resident as I have been living outside the UK for several years. I have found a Dutch based payroll provider who will provide me a contract ...

Extended accounting period prior to liquidation?

My limited company ceased trading on 31 October 2011 and the accounting period normally ends on 31 December. A liquidator will be appointed from 31 January 2012 to manage the winding up process. I understand that I as Director am responsible for submitting the final set of accounts and tax return be...

Re: Avoiding CGT prior to moving abroad

Thanks both for your feedback. Mullet, I do not own any property in the UK nor do I have a family here. I only have some bank accounts and an ISA and I don't intend to acquire any more assets. The country I will move to is Sweden. I have done some research and have established the following: "An ind...

Re: Avoiding CGT prior to moving abroad

Also, to what extent should I restrict my visits to the UK during those 5 full tax years? Would the 90 day average rule apply?

Many Thanks

Re: Avoiding CGT prior to moving abroad

Hi Maths, Many thanks for that. Since making the initial post I discovered through some research that split year treatment would not apply to me for the reasons you stated. I do have some flexibility in relation to my departure date so if I leave the UK on say 1st April 2012, create the capital gain...

Avoiding CGT prior to moving abroad

Hi, I am currently a UK tax resident and have been operating through a UK Limited Company over the past few years. I have chosen to restrict dividend payments each year and now have a reasonable amount of cash sitting in my company's bank account. The company has now stopped trading and I am plannin...

Re: Contracting in Norway/Australia

With regard to closing the company down and claiming Entrepreneur's relief, could this be done on 5th April after working full time overseas for a complete tax year? Presumably non-resident status could then be claimed with no CGT due at all?
