If you are being charged VAT, you will be able to claim it when you register.
Why do you say 'VAT has already been applied'?

How do I adjust for stock purchased whilst using the FRS, but on hand when I leave the scheme?

HMRC guidance on 'completion' is unclear (their bullet points 1-4), but you will need to present a good reason why your date is to be preferred. And be prepared to argue it at Tribunal too.

If your US customers are private persons, UK VAT applies to your services, and the income contributes to your registration for VAT. Thanks to davebrownvat for highlighting this. 1. Appoint a VAT specialist to guide you.
2. register for VAT. If you sell any units, you make zero rated sales, so you can recover input tax.

3. Do not 'Opt to Tax.' These are domestic buildings, to this is not required.
