Should VAT be applied

Postby sharon_davies » Tue Sep 12, 2017 7:50 am

Our global organisation HQ is preparing to have all invoices from our logistics partner billed directly to the US, via a global account. They will then bill us via inter company, my concern is VAT. Presently any shipping costs billed locally for UK deliveries is VAT applicable, we can then claim this via VAT return. With this change we would not be able to claim it back as we will be invoiced by global HQ. The Logistics partner has since confirmed no VAT would be applied to any invoice, as they are confirming the service provider is US based; so it's outside the UK. I am not sure this is correct and looking for advice.
