Hi,
Trying to help a family member.

Retired, with private pension, state pension and savings/ investments.

Total income 55733... 43163 after PA.
Gift aid contributions £467

This is for 23/24 tax year. Scottish resident.

Maybe unhelpful, but if you complete an online return via the family member's HMRC personal tax account, it should do all the calcs for you.

The tax will also depend on the breakdown of that savings income between interest and dividends. There are reliefs for each and then different rates.

Thank you for taking the time to reply.

Yes, it's the HMRC calculation that we are having trouble understanding 100%.
Relative has spoken to them on the phone and now realises that although Scottish Income Tax differ, savings tax rates etc fall into UK govt rate bands.

Income was 23912
Savings,investments etc 31821
Gift aid 467
