Tax on savings interest

Postby Gordy67 » Mon Apr 14, 2025 5:43 pm

Hi
Do all banks inform the HMRC about interest on you savings?

I had interest of around £5k from saving accounts that matured in June 2024 but haven't had any notification of interest i need to pay.

I'm not sure if I needed to do a tax self assessment as the interest in below £10k.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If you are liable to pay tax it is your responsibility to tell HMRC.
