french capital gains tax - property in france but resident in UK

Postby andylu56 » Mon Jan 15, 2018 4:01 pm

Hello
My family and I are intending to move to France this year. We have built a house in France which we have used for our family holidays over the last couple of years. One option that I need to "tick off" before making the move, is one of selling the house instead of emigrating. I understand that my house sale will be liable to French Capital Gains Tax, but I should be able to offset build costs. However, my issue is that the house was built using sub contractors and materials mostly from the UK. I'm therefore unsure if non French building costs can be deducted. It will be useful to understand the current policy, as it has a significant bearing on the potential Capital Gains Tax payable.
Any help will be gratefully received
Thank You
