VAT on events organised all over the world

Postby Ieko » Wed Jun 13, 2018 4:07 pm

Hi,
My company organises events/seminars for the clients in their countries. Usually it's 1-2 day seminar to educate them and help develop their businesses. They are charged a fee for it.
Does it mean we have to register for VAT in each country where we provide such events ?

The rules of exhibitions are complex, and you probably need some more detailed advice to review the whole arrangement.
The basic position is that exhibition services are 'General Rule' services, so the Place of Supply is where the recipient is located. Local 'Reverse Charge' rules may or may not mean you have to register there. If events are held outside the EU, then local taxes may apply.
If you charge for open admission, you will be required to register locally.
If the services fall within the 'land-related' services, then you probably will be required to register locally. That will depend on exactly what you provide to your customers.
