VAT Registration and Pre-existing Contracts

Postby RandomUserName » Mon Oct 08, 2018 1:50 pm

Has anyone come across a situation where a company has attempted to charge VAT on top of an amount agreed pre-VAT registration?

In contractual terms, obviously any loss should be borne by the company and not passed on to a customer that cannot recover it, but I’m interested to see if it is common practice.

A very common problem.
A supplier should make sure his contract is worded to allow him to charge VAT in the event of him becoming registered for VAT.
