Eligibility for reduction in Council Tax

Postby dotto » Sat Sep 24, 2016 1:42 pm

We bought a bungalow in 2010 and obtained planning permission to build two detached houses on part of the garden area. One plot was sold and my son built a house for himself on the other plot. The land for the plots was removed from the bungalow's title deeds. The removal of the land will have reduced the value of the bungalow and my question is should we apply for a lower council tax band. The bungalow is a 1970's 3 bedroomed property and has had no extensions or alterations to increase its value.

If we apply will any reduction only be allowable once the bungalow is sold.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you
