Extra Stamp Duty replacing a main residence

Postby Brady » Thu Oct 04, 2018 9:39 pm

Hello - my husband and I have sold our main residence but have not been able to buy another new main residence. For the interim period, could be up to year, we are moving into a flat my husband owns but which has been rented out. We intend to live in it until we can buy another main residence. Will we have to pay the extra stamp duty when we buy a main residence? kind regards M Brady

Just called HMRC - we do not have to pay the higher rate if we buy a main residence within 3 years
