My wife and I are in the process of getting divorced. Our house is currently in joint names. As part of the divorce settlement, the house is to be remortgaged and put into my name only. I will be paying my wife a lump sum of £15,000 which represents her share of the increase in value of the house since we bought it.
My question is, will I be liable to pay stamp duty when the house is transferred into my name?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Regards

Ant Stansbie
