SDLT on transfer of ownership

Postby gotaquestion1 » Tue Apr 21, 2020 11:54 am

Hi,

My wife and I purchased land which we then built a house on. This was funded through savings, so there is no mortgage and it is the only property we own.

If my wife gifts me her half of the property and I then take out a mortgage on the property. Is there any SDLT or other tax to pay?

Thank you for your help.

I assume the property has been, and currently is, your main residence (ie property in which you live).

No SDLT.

No CGT.
