I am a PhD student and about to buy a PC. I heard that I can claim VAT back, is this possible?
Cheers!

If you are in business and registered for VAT and the PC is to be used for the purposes of making taxable supplies then you will be entitled to recover the VAT.

Alternatively, if you live outside the EC and you will be removing the PC from the UK then you may be entitled to recover the VAT.

Other than that, it's unlikely.
