Hi there

Pleas help. I have just moved to France and have set up a company here. I am in the process of selling my house in the uk and wondered if the vat on the agents commission is therefore exempt. can i assume as i have had the house for less than 4 years and it was my PPR I will not also incur CGT.

Thank you in advance

Kim

Bad news I am afraid. UK VAT at 17.5% is due on the agency commission. The liability is determined by the location of the property, not the residence of the client.
You are right that there will be no CGT if the house was your PPR.

If you would like to discuss this further please call me on 020 8418 9101.
