Do i need to charge VAT?

Postby jodes » Wed Mar 30, 2016 9:47 am

I am hoping someone can help me.

What is the right thing to do when I receive an invoice with No VAT and need to charge a non vat registered company but I am vat registered.

Do I charge the VAT as I am vat registered even though the supplier invoice isn't and the customer isn't.

Thanks in advance.

If you are making a VATable supply, you have to charge VAT.

If you provide more information about the goods/service and parties involved, you might get a more detailed response covering a specific circumstance.

I assume that you belong in the UK. Accordingly, you have to charge VAT if you make a supply of goods or services in the UK and that supply would be taxable at a positive rate (i.e. not zero-rated), irrespective of whether or not your customer is VAT registered and whether or not you incurred VAT.
