VAT return when buying on behalf of overseas clients

Postby nshah » Mon Dec 17, 2018 5:28 am

Hello All,

We want to buy a few high value gift items on behalf of non-EU overseas customers. Generally when the client shops themselves in the UK, they apply for a VAT refund. We need help understanding if the purchase me make via our registered private company on behalf of the client would be eligible for the same VAT return? The goods will be shipped to the client via air.

Presuming you are vat registered then you can charge "no vat" on the sale of goods as long as you have evidence the goods have left the uk and not ended up in another EC country.
