VAT on export

Postby Herbs16 » Tue Nov 17, 2020 11:41 am

Hi
I intend to export goods manufactured in the UK abroad. I require advice on how to reclaim VAT in order that my overseas customers do not have to pay EU VAT in addition to import duty?

Thanks

Rules for VAT and Duty are different.

If you are exporting goods to a place outside the EU, those goods will be zero-rated, subject to you holding commercial evidence of export.
You can therefore register for VAT, since you make taxable (zero-rated) supplies.

Whether Duty is due for an export from within the EU to a place outside the EU will depend in part on the rules of the country into which the goods are delivered.
