I have formed a company for a new business. I am at the stage of registering it with C&E. I have found out that they started trading one month before the company was formed and they even registered the partnership for VAT. Since the company was formed in March and up to today, they kept trading under the unincorporated business issuing sales invoices that display the unincorporated business vat number.
On grounds of simplicity, I do not want to write up books for the sole trader for 2-3 months and then transfer the business to the limited company with all the tax implications etc. Could I show those sales invoices as company invoices and included them in the first company vat return? (most of them were issued when the company had been around).
I know it's a mess but can anyone advice what the best course of action would be? Many thanks.
