EE v ER contributions legacy issue

Hi, my pension provider has just told me that it has been counting my pension contributions as being from my employer (rather than from myself) for the past 15+ years. For this time period the only payments into the plan have been from myself. I would like to know more about what this is likely to mean. Can anyone help? Many thanks.
